{Best Face of January} I Heart Faces

{Go  to I Heart Faces and vote for my photo #426, “the Face of January”, if you’d like!}

Saying January was a good month is probably an understatement.

Sure, it’s the month of my birth… that’s reason enough to love it.

But it started off with a bang!  We wrote our wishes for the new year on sky lanterns

and released them into the nights sky.  It was heavenly (think Tangled, the movie).

For my birthday

I got whisked away by my lovies to a cabin for the weekend, got to do all the

antique shopping I wanted (priceless),

ate really good gluten free grub including cupcakes hooray!,

and cutified my 3 punkins in their Matilda Jane Clothing and had an entire photo shoot in

36 degree weather without any complaints.

{more on that later}

{sneak peek of  birthday photo shoot-What a face!!!}

Seriously.  They were such troopers in a big way!

It was just hours before snowmageddon 2011 in the ATL hit.

The goodness could have ended there… but it didn’t.

Snowmageddon 2011 hit and we were stuck in our little ‘hood for 5 days straight!

5 whole days people!!!  It was another Christmas break!!!

(Which was great since the “real” break could have used a do over.)

That’s a lot of cuddle time, game time, sledding time, snow cones and hot cocoa!

{also more on that later}

BUT!

You guessed it.  It didn’t stop there…

I found out I made the top 59 out of almost 1000 photographers

in the Photo Love contest over at, who else, but Matilda Jane Clothing.

Definitely could have stopped there… but it didn’t.

Got to see my girls cute little mugs in the MJC Spring catalog along with all our

new bosom friends we stayed with while in Florida.

Giddy.  And a very proud Daddy-oh grinning from ear to ear.

Oh, wait!   There’s more…

(you still with me?)

Made new friends, one particularly special friend who I’ll be introducing you to soon.

Here’s a hint… she’s the lovely voice you hear in the

“Let it Shine” tune playing when you come to my blog.

And to top it all off, I was able to document a dear friend as she

cut her hair off in preparation for her chemo.

That’s good you ask?  Well if you knew her you’d understand why.

She gave me WAY more that day and continues to, than I gave her.

{again, another post for later… gah!  I’m so behind!}

Phew.  That’s a good month if I’ve ever seen one.

Now you can see why I’m a little behind on posting.

And I’m sure I’m forgetting something.

Been busy.  The oh so good kind of busy.

Just when I thought things would calm down a bit in the new year, they sped right up.

In a very good way.

Grateful and tired.

I told you 2011 was going to be a good year.

What a good start.

AND NOW…

It’s a root beer float kind of night!

Ice cold root beer

(a real good one-Trader Joe’s root beer is da bomb)

heavy whipping cream

good vanilla ice cream

(again TJ’s or  a good vanilla bean)

Put a big scoop of ice cream in a cold glass, pour some heavy whipping cream over,

pour some rootbeer to cover, then repeat and enjoy.  I’ve also heard you can substitute the

heavy whipping cream for sweet and condensed milk.

O.M. Good-night!!!

Have yet to try that because I never have it in my pantry.

So, it’s February 1st.

Here’s to topping January.

CHEERS!!!

{SLURP}

Let it shine,

Dana
